Mommies get 'me' time?!

Go watch tv, mama.

Posted Saturday, January 29th, 2011

Matthew calls me in to the bathroom to wipe after he’s done using the facilities.

I walk in and ask him if he’s done.

He says ‘No, not yet. Some more poop came.’

I sit and say ‘That’s ok. I’ll wait.’

His reply ‘No mama. I think you need to go out there and watch tv.’

Me (trying very hard not to laugh) ‘Ok, call me when you’re done.’

LOL

It was hiding!

Matthew continues to do extremely well wearing his underwear accident free. He’s gone on several shopping trips with no problem at all.

Yesterday, the boys went to daycare so I could go to the allergist sans kids. After finishing my errands, I went to pick the boys up. As I was loading the younger 2 into the car, Matthew tells me:

‘I have to go pee.’
Me: ‘Right now?’ (DUH!)
Him: ‘Yes.’
Me: ‘Ok. Lets get you back inside.’
So I quickly load the younger 2 enough to keep them safe and I walked M back inside and asked one of the employees if they could please take him to the bathroom.

I return to getting the younger 2 strapped in to the car and Matthew is led back out to me.

Me: ‘Did you go potty?’
Matthew: ‘Yes. There was a lot of pee hiding in me, Mama!’

It’s a good thing the pee stopped hiding.

Down? Up!

The other day, I was teaching Matthew his last name: Down.

Me: ‘Your last name is Down. D. O. W. N.’

Matthew: ‘Ok.’

Me: ‘So you have Matthew Down, Nathan Down and Zachary Down.’

Matthew: ‘Yeah, that’s right. And Dadda Up!’

Passed out!

Monkey was telling me how he took a nap in the car awhile back.

‘Momma, I was tired and I took a rest in the car. Yeah, I passed out.’

Yup, out of the mouth of my 4 yr old.

Birth of the Skinny Bird

Jonathan and I have decided to, finally, get serious about losing weight and changing our life. I started at 248 pounds and am now about 245. We’ve completed our first full week at our new gym, Anytime Fitness. Every M-W-F, I do an 8 circuit strength training routine. Every Tu-Th-Sat, I do at least 30 min of cardio. Before we even got our gym membership or our spanking new clothes and shoes, we started a food journal using My Fitness Pal. Aside from having an online page to use, they also have an Android app that makes it easy to log foods while we’re out and about. To say it’s been an eye opener would be an understatement. So, in reality, today is the start of week 2 of my new life.

Oh, what about the skinny bird? Hopefully, I will be the skinny bird by this time next year. I have long gone by the name ‘Raven’ in some form online. Sticking to this, the skinny bird is molting and glimpses can be seen of her at the gym, sweating away her old self.

July 2010

July was a very hard year this year. Zach was born 4 weeks early and spent his entire hospital stay in the NICU. Shortly after bringing him home, Cody (my 7 yr old Great Pyr) went into shock on a Sunday nite. Took him in to see our long standing vet and after some initial blood work and a slew of x-rays, I opted not to put my best friend through exploratory surgery. I cried very hard as he went to sleep for the last time. He would have been 8 this Thanksgiving. I will forever miss him.

The end of the month improved, thankfully. Matthew turned 4. Getting him a birthday cake turned out to be a bigger fiasco than anyone thought. Due to a miscommunication on Costco’s part, we ended up with 2 GIANT birthday cakes. The cake was ok but I think we’ll stick with Target’s cakes from now on.

2 yr checkup

Nathan had his 2 yr check up yesterday. Aside from a yeast diaper rash, he was given a clean bill of health. 2 vaccinations, 15 seconds of crying and he was done. He weighed 32 pds and was about 35″ tall. Dr. Kaplan doesn’t need to see him until he’s 3 now.

Nathan also had his 1st hearing test this past Wednesday. He passed it with flying colors. The ENT had no concerns whatsoever about his hearing. Now we can rule that out as to a possible reason why he’s speech delayed.

He heard me!

I had taught M how to play Uno on my phone. He really likes it and the computer helps him along just enough that he can play it on his own.

He and I were laying in bed, having some quiet time before lights out. He was playing Uno and snuggling with me so I took the chance to talk to him about Zac. I pointed to my belly and told him that Zac could hear us talk now. Matthew talked about how Zac in my belly could hear us and went back to playing his game.

A few minutes later, Matthew had changed positions so that his back was against my belly….and he farted.

He then turns to me and said ‘Momma, Zac heard me fart!’

You need a diaper

Monkey’s been running around without a diaper on for awhile now. I know that he’s going to need to go pee soon.

Me: ‘Monkey, you need a diaper.’
M: ‘Why?’
Me: ‘Are you going to go pee in the potty?’
M: ‘Nooooo.’
Me: ‘You need a diaper so you don’t pee on the floor.’
M: ‘Yeah and I don’t pee on train tracks.’
Me: ‘Yup, that’s right.’
M: ‘And so I don’t pee on the roof.’
Me: (laughing) ‘Yup.’
M: ‘But you and Dada and Bubba won’t find me on the roof.’

(I’d hope not!)

At it again…

Once again (I sound like a broken record now), it’s been too long since I’ve done just about anything with this blog. Welcome to the new site. A new web address, a new look and feel.

Monkeyisms are now a part of my blog. You can use the tags on the right to search for just those. Anything that applies to life (other than M), is under ‘mommy post.’

J and I have achieved getting pregnant a 3rd time. At the end of July, we become an off spin of ‘My 3 Sons’. Zachary Edward is due July 28th, by the books. I won’t make it to that date, though. He’ll be born, most likely, the week before. Want to make bets he’s a 10 pounder?

M is almost 4. Since starting school in Sept, his speech has improved greatly! J and I are both amazed and extremely pleased with how well he’s doing.

N will be 2 on the 17th. Almost hard to believe! Almost no words from him yet. He is a boy of few words and many gestures. I’m so tired of naming ‘car’ and ‘shoe’ for him! We just keep chuggin on and know that, some day, he’ll speak.

Until then, it’s one foot in front of the other, day after day….
